Feeling quite smug, the self catering is taking off (right at the end of the season) and the B and B is a thing of the past. Being a writer means you need to find a way of putting food on the table while being able to write. To write without another means of income would mean poverty would inevitably arrive; to focus purely on making a living, without giving time to writing and the writing would suffer. This was happening with the B and B. Up early, work for 12 hours plus each day, lacking sleep, always tired, the creativity being sapped by constantly having to greet guests always in your house, asking after them, making sure they have everything the need, just kills everything else within you. Now, however, we have made the transition to self catering, no more early rises, no more constantly being at the beck and call of guests, more time, energy and creativity to write. My writing is getting back to where it was months ago and book three is now thundering along. So much better now!
